Overview
This two-day workshop focuses on the mobilisation, standardisation, and publication of metabarcoding data through the infrastructure of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
Participants will gain:
- An understanding of the importance of publishing metabarcoding data for biodiversity monitoring
- Practical knowledge of data standards, including Darwin Core
- Guidance on structuring, validating, and preparing datasets for publication in GBIF
- The workshop includes a structured introduction to the GBIF Metabarcoding Data Toolkit (MDT), explaining its purpose, components, and recommended workflows. Participants will learn how the toolkit supports the transformation of metabarcoding outputs into standardised, interoperable datasets ready for publication through GBIF.
