BioMedData

BioMedData is a national research data infrastructure to promote FAIR data management with the life sciences. The project was established in 2020 as a collaboration between 11 Norwegian life-science infrastructures. BioMedData is funded by the Research Council of Norway and will run until 2024. BioMedData concerns an upgrade of the Norwegian ELIXIR node following the ELIXIR Europe position on open and FAIR research data management.

BioMedData will facilitate interoperability, coordination, and implementation of FAIR data management across domain-specific research data infrastructures in Norway. BioMedData will (1) contribute to the development of domain-specific templates for data management, (2) provide training in handling data management plans, and (3) facilitate the training of end-users.

The Norwegian GBIF-node represents the University of Oslo Natural History Museum and the planned nature biobank research infrastructure (NORBINA) in BioMedData as Research Infrastructure Project Area Liaison (RI-PAL). The RI-PAL function is performed by personnel that already have related functions within the respective domain-specific infrastructures.
