After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and increased aggressions and violent missile attacks since March 2022 Ukrainian citizens, but also Ukrainian cultural heritage is under severe threat! Including natural history collections. Kherson in the south of Ukraine was occupied by Russia from March 2022 to November 2023 (and is still the object of frequent missile attacks from Russia). Besides the primary threat to citizens, the occupation was also causing severe concern for the natural history collections and plans were initiated to start evacuating collections away from the front line of the Russian war.
